Gigi Chao married her girlfriend of seven years at a civil union in Paris in April.

But despite the time lapsed since their union, her father, Cecil, has become determined for Gigi to become converted to a traditional heterosexual marriage involving a husband.

Now the property tycoon has taken the unusual step of offering a reward of HK$500m to the man who is prepared to wed his daughter, despite having been fully aware of her sexuality for years, according to friends.

The money is also being offered “an inducement to attract someone who ha the talent but not the capital to start his own business”.

“I don’t mind whether he is rich or poor – the important thing is that he is generous and kind hearted,” he told the South China Morning Post. “Gigi is a very good woman with both talents and looks. She is devoted to her parents, is generous and does volunteer work.”

The father-daughter row is believed to have begun last week, after Gigi, 33, announced at an event in Beijing that she had married her partner, Sean Eav.

After the union was reported in Hong Kong media, Mr Chao swifty contacted newspapers to tell them the report was wrong.

Mr Chao is often pictured in Hong Kong gossip magazines with numerous women on his arm. He has never been married, and claims to have slept with 10,000 women. Gigi is the oldest of three children he fathered with different mothers.
