David and Samantha Cameron’s new daughter is shown wrapped in a blanket and cradled by the prime minister.
Mrs Cameron and the baby, both said to be doing well, left the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro yesterday and the family are continuing their holiday in Cornwall. It is not clear when they will return to London.
Before Tuesday’s birth, Mr Cameron had been expected to return to work this weekend, but he is now expected to take some time off as paternity leave.
Florence was due next month, but was born on Tuesday while the Cameron family were on holiday in Cornwall. She weighed 6lb 1oz and was born by Caesarean section.
Speaking outside the hospital on Tuesday, Mr Cameron described her as an “unbelievably beautiful girl”.
Her middle name Endellion refers to the village St Endellion, near where the Camerons were staying.
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said yesterday he would “just carry on holding the fort” until Mr Cameron returned to work.
