Fox was in the gold position after the first 50m and maintained the lead ahead of his Ukranian rival Yevheniy Bohodayko all the way to the end. He won with a time of 1:10:46.
Fox, who broke the world record in S7 heats this morning, has cerebral palsy. He qualified with a time of 1:09:86 – nearly three seconds faster than his closest rival, Ukraine’s Bohodayko.
At Beijing Fox won gold in the S7 100m backstroke, and was a gold medallist in the same event at the IPC European Championships last year.
