Underwater footage from inside the Costa Concordia

Ghostly video of the Costa Concordia released by Italian police divers shows how well preserved parts of the vessel still are.

The footage provides an eerie view of the interior of the ship, which sank after hitting a reef in January 2012.

Carabinieri divers are seen swimming through the halls of the vessel and through its submerged rooms.

At one point the divers move above water and reveal how well preserved the ships painted and wood-panelled walls are.

The Concordia slammed into a reef off the island of Giglio and capsized, killing 32 people.

In September 2013, engineers wrenched the ship back upright and have been attaching huge tanks to its sides to float it off the reef so it can be towed away, a project expected to begin in the coming weeks.
