A decade ago the world was still reeling from the terror strikes in the US on 9/11. The US and its allies had invaded Afganistan in the hunt for the perpetrators and the names “Osama bin Laden” and “al-Qaeda” had become sinister household names.
Ten years on, bin Laden is dead but US and British troops are still engaged in fighting militants in Afghanistan. And the “war on terror” is still being waged – increasingly by controversial unmanned drones.
