Which part of Team GB are you in?

Want to know where you would fit into the Team GB squad? Let the boffins at Channel 4 News calculate your place.

Has Ennis encouraged you to exercise? Are you inspired by Ainslie? Before you decide to pick up a javelin or invest in a sailing boat, you might want to find out which sport you might be best suited for.

The boffins at Channel 4 News have created a gadget which will tell you which Team GB sports team you are most suited for.

Enter your sex, height and weight and the Team GB Calculator above will tell you what you should start training for – be that weightlifting, long distance running or rowing.

So what should you be?

According to our gadget Barack Obama should consider taking up diving, whilst Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint could make a fine long-distance runner.

Massive disclaimer: Here at Channel4 News we believe that excellence in sport is probably down to a little more than your height and weight. Exercise is apparently a factor.

Genetics probably pays a part. Not smoking and drinking to excess every weekend could help.

We should also point out that the calculator matches your BMI with the average for Team GB’s sports team – but as their mass is mostly muscle, and your average member of the public will have a higher fat ratio, we are in no way suggesting that the results will fit you exactly with your perfect.

Please do not assume that our tongue-in-cheek gadget will guarantee you a place at Rio 2016 – that would be stupid.

Inside the Olympics

Not yet bored of Channel 4 News research? Good, because we’ve got plenty more.

Check out our Alternative Olympics: Interactive Medals Table. There you can compare Olympic nations not just by medals but by debt, freedom, CO2 emissions or population.

See how the Arab Spring nations perform against the eurozone basket cases… or nuclear powers versus emerging economies.

And you can also see which Team GB athletes were born near you with our interactive map – see why the Midlands produces fewer athletes and how many of our sporting stars come from the north-west.
