2.2 million people evacuated from earthquake hit areas

Turkey’s President Erdogan has said that more than 2.2 million people have now been evacuated from areas affected by last week’s devastating earthquake, while 1.6 million have received emergency shelter.

The death toll has climbed to at least 35,000 in Turkey, making it the deadliest in the country’s history, with a further 5,800 killed in Syria.
