EU and Tunisia sign deal to help tackle illegal migration

Europe has also been trying to deliver on its pledge to tackle illegal migration, agreeing a new deal with the country that’s become the latest hub for people trying to cross the Mediterranean for European shores.

EU leaders have pledged around a hundred million euros for Tunisia designed to strengthen its borders, turn back small boats and deport anyone arriving in breach of the rules. But Tunisia has its own issues when it comes to dealing with migrants, as dozens dumped on the border with Libya will attest.
