500 days of Sudan war – ‘world’s worst ongoing humanitarian crisis’

Torrential rain and flooding have left more than a hundred thousand people displaced in the east of Sudan – with dozens of villages reportedly washed away.

It was sparked by a burst dam in Arbaat, north of Port Sudan – an area where many people have sought refuge from the civil war.

It’s exactly 500 days since the conflict erupted between the Sudanese army and its former allies, the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, sparking what aid agencies have described as the world’s worst ongoing humanitarian crisis.
