999 emergency call system taken out of action for hours by technical fault

Emergency services across the UK say a back-up system put in place after a system failure that left 999 callers unable to get through, is still causing problems.

Most police forces and other emergency services say they are now able to receive calls but the technology that automatically identifies the location of the call is still not working effectively.
