Almost £3 billion promised to free hospital beds in England

With hospitals expecting a massive influx of patients, the government has announced that it will allocate £2.9 billion pounds of its emergency Covid-19 fund, to free up thousands of hospital beds in England.

But staff on the frontline of the crisis say there is still a shortage of protective equipment, a problem authorities across the UK are scrambling to address.
