Argentina election: Who is the far-right candidate Javier Milei?

Voters in Argentina are heading to the polls today in a general election. It’s taking place amid a challenging situation for the country with inflation running at 140 per cent and spiralling poverty.

All eyes are on Javier Milei, a Donald Trump-admiring libertarian who’s hoping to attract disillusioned supporters away from Argentina’s main parties.  He says his controversial policies are the shock therapy the country needs. But his opponents say he’s a far-right populist with dangerous ideas.
