Army sniffer dog captured by Taliban ‘from British unit’

A bomb sniffer dog captured by the Taliban is from a British army unit, it is being claimed. Named as “Colonel” the animal has been pictured on “jihadist” website Al-Emara.

This video claims to show a military dog captured during fighting in eastern Afghanistan in December.

Sources from the US-led International Assistance Security Force confirmed a dog had gone missing, adding that it belonged to a British unit.

In the video it is wearing a harness, said to contain a GPS tracking device, torch and camera. It is surrounded by bearded men holding guns.
