Arron Banks loses libel case against journalist Carole Cadwalladr

The pro-Brexit campaigner Arron Banks has lost his libel case against the journalist Carole Cadwalladr, in a ruling which could have important implications for public interest journalism.

The judge found that Ms Cadwalladr had defamed Mr Banks over his relationship with the Russian state, but accepted her defence that the comments were justified in the public interest at the time.
