As Israel says it’s found more Hamas tunnels in northern Gaza, bombing intensifies in south

Foreign Affairs Correspondent

Israel’s military has shifted the focus of its offensive to the crowded southern half of Gaza.

It says Hamas leaders are hiding there – in amongst most of the Strip’s 2.3 million population.

Residents say the bombing has been concentrated on Khan Younis and Rafah.

The military has dropped leaflets describing Khan Younis as “a dangerous combat zone” – telling people to evacuate several areas and move south to Rafah or west to a nearby coastal area. The US has stepped up its calls for Israel to avoid civilian casualties in its fight to destroy Hamas – which the UK considers a terrorist group.
