Asda workers fear losing their jobs if they fail to sign new contracts

North of England Correspondent

Workers at the supermarket giant Asda have been given another week to decide whether to sign new contracts, which unions say mean staff will lose paid breaks and have to work on bank holidays.

Asda has insisted that the new contract will represent an increase in real pay and fairer terms for all staff.

But with two pay days till Christmas – as things stand – there are still hundreds of Asda workers who say they can’t or won’t sign up to the new deal.
