At least seven dead after storms sweep through Europe

At least seven people have been killed after storms swept through parts of Switzerland, Northern Italy and France.

Torrential rain caused extensive flooding and landslides, forcing hundreds of people to be evacuated.

Police said the weather conditions were making rescue efforts even more difficult – with some Alpine valleys cut off altogether.
