The EU’s chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier has slapped down the Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, who said yesterday that the EU could whistle for its “extortionate” Brexit bill. Mr Barnier’s tart response was: “I can’t hear any whistling, just the clock ticking.” And he said that the EU could not trust Britain if it didn’t pay its bills. But there was a warmer tone from the King of Spain, who’s in London for a state visit.
