Barry Humphries: Dame Edna Everage creator dies

He was best known as the creator of the gladioli clutching Dame Edna Everage, and vulgar cultural attache Sir Les Patterson – the comic legend Barry Humphries has died at the age of 89.

Among the many tributes, Australia’s prime minister Anthony Albanese described him as the brightest star in the galaxy, and an absolute one of a kind.
