BBC Chairman under pressure to quit as Gary Lineker crisis continues

Negotiations are underway to resolve a standoff between Match of the day presenter Gary Lineker and the BBC – as the corporation is forced to severely reduce its sports shows after presenters and pundits boycott programming for a second day.

Mr Lineker was suspended by the BBC on Friday after refusing to apologise for a tweet criticising the government’s asylum seeker policy.
