Boris Johnson meets Aung San Suu Kyi and calls on her to help Rohingya refugees

Foreign Affairs Correspondent

Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson has met Myanmar’s leader Aung San Suu Kyi and called on her to help the Rohingya refugees. Mr Johnson said Burmese authorities should fully investigate the violence against the Rohingya minority and create the ‘right conditions’ for them to return to their homes in Rakhine state. More than 620, 000 Rohingya have left their homes because of alleged persecution by the Burmese military. The United Nations has described the treatment of the Rohingya people as a “text-book example of ethnic cleansing”.
