Today was the deadline by which the UK government said a post-Brexit trade deal with the EU must be reached before no deal becomes unavoidable.
That deadline has now passed with both sides still at loggerheads.
The EU’s negotiator Michel Barnier said they would continue to work intensively but the UK must move its position on fisheries and state aid, while his UK counterpart David Frost accused the EU of lacking commitment to get a deal.
The prime minister will set out his position tomorrow.
