British values oath proposed for public office holders

Would an oath of allegiance help improve community integration in Britain? It’s the idea of the Communities Secretary, Sajid Javid, following a report on social cohesion. He wants not just migrants but all elected officials, civil servants and council workers to take the oath, which would pledge support for British values such as tolerance, democracy, equality and freedom of speech.
