British volunteer fighter dies in Syria

A Briton who had been fighting against so-called Islamic State in Syria has been killed while clearing landmines in Raqqa just days after it was liberated. 24 year old Jac Holmes, who was a former IT worker from Bournemouth, had no prior military training before he joined up with the Kurdish militia, the YPG, two years ago.
