Britney Spears says she was left traumatised and humiliated for 13 years by an “abusive” arrangement which gave her father control over her career, estate and most of her personal life.

In a searing attack on the controversial conservatorship, the star told a court in Los Angeles: “I just want my life back.” Her father said he was sorry to see her suffering.

Fans and fellow stars, including her former boyfriend Justin Timberlake and the actor Rose McGowan, have voiced their support for her case.
