Budget 2023: Will it change the UK economy?

A budget for jobs, for childcare, for pensions and growth – that was the Chancellor’s message at least, as he put forward plans which he said would help working families and households struggling with bills.

But figures show the UK economy is still set to shrink by 0.2% this year, while Labour accused the Tories of effectively handing a tax cut to the highest earners, while trying to pass off stagnation as stability.
