Burmese judge postpones decision on journalists’ bail

A judge in Burma has postponed a decision on bail for two journalists from the Reuters news agency, detained for allegedly violating secrecy laws. Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo were covering the military crackdown in Rakhine state, where Burmese forces are accused of the murder and rape of Rohingya Muslims, forcing more than 700,000 people to flee. The pair were arrested last month after they were handed documents by two policemen. Reuters called it a “wholly unwarranted attack on press freedom”.
