Businesses given £1 billion Covid relief

Struggling hospitality firms have broadly welcomed the chancellor’s new package of support, which includes grants of up to £6,000 and a statutory sick pay rebate scheme.

Rishi Sunak described the scheme as “generous”, but many firms say it’s a fraction of the income they’ve lost, and they are calling for a guarantee of future support, if more restrictions are imposed after Christmas.
