ConservativeHome and Lord Ashcroft
ConservativeHome has built up a reputation as a real power in the Tory land, a website that claims to speak for the grassroots, the soul of the party.
Only a few days ago I listened to a shadow minister railing against it, complaining that it was “self-appointed,” representing the older, outdated instincts of the party.
It has the potential to be a real thorn in the side of a Tory administration.
So it’s intriguing to see on their website today that Lord Ashcroft, Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party, has bought 57.5 per cent of the company.
You can read Tim Montgomerie’s post about it here. He insists that there will be no interference from the new owner.
