Expenses row: disks, Ws and duck houses
The Telegraph expenses investigation of last summer didn’t do very well on the Ws.
The disks were still “work in progress” when the Telegraph source lifted their one and so it didn’t have receipts from the MPs with surnames beginning with “W” properly downloaded onto it.
They had the front sheets for claims for the Ws in most cases but hardly any of the inner pages and accompanying receipts. Are they now going for the Ws ?
Tory high command is taking the view that David Wilshire’s is not an open and shut case like, say, Sir Peter Viggers.
Sir Peter was found to have claimed for a duck house and was instantly in the dog house – he was told he couldn’t stand again in the Tory name.
Mr Wilshire’s letter to the Telegraph, seen by the Tory high command, claims that there were secretarial duties paid for out of Moorlands Research Services.
Mr Wilshire will get a period of grace to lay his hands on some documentation to support his claim – but not long.
