Leaders’ debate: Brown ‘wins’ but is it too late?

So, Gordon raised his game and spoke in ways that cut through.

He only said “double dip” once I think. His fatal weakness for lists was temporarily overcome. I didn’t hear a single sentence that started with the word “thirdly,” not something you can always rely on him for.

But will it do him any good? Are people listening? Have they closed their minds? Can he pick up anything more than a couple of percentage points which, depending on which poll you are looking at, won’t get him very far?

David Cameron emphasised family values and the “clean break” of a new administration under him.

Nick Clegg said “choose the future you really want…it can happen…you can make the difference.” The middle spot brought him no special dividends but he did himself no harm.

Likewise David Cameron made no howlers and was on top of his material emphasising Labour waste whenever he could.

Gordon Brown’s closure wasn’t very positive and not his best. “They are not ready for government,” he said. But GB won I thought.

It got a bit more dull as it went on. I wonder if a few people slipped off to check on Liverpool on the other channel.
