Music, celebs and launch of ‘yes’ website

One-time boy soprano Alex Salmond’s been singing along with his favourite song, “Caledonia” (some of the Green Party folk here seemed less sure of the words).

We’ve had various music combos and celebrity endorsements but no Sean Connery beamed in. Instead someone read out his words. Why? Did the connection to the Bahamas fail or did the SNP decide it didn’t look good? The campaign didn’t manage to get many women speaking on stage – Liz Lockhead the only one out of about 10 or so.

Although some of the endorsing celebs live abroad, sources here say the high profile ones have promised to be registered to vote in Scotland by Autumn 2014, so the local property market could get a mini-referendum stimulus.

There was the signing of a new Arbroath Declaration but this seems to be about trying to kick off fundraising and websites – there’ll be much “wizadry” Alex Salmond promised.

Earlier, I tried to get a word with the lottery winners who’ve been backing the SNP with their big bucks – Colin and Chris Weir. SNP staffers suggested I move on and that things were about to start – which they blatantly weren’t. Nicola Sturgeon giggled uncomfortably, sat next to them on the front row.
