I broke my rule and appeared in underpants

I crossed channels this morning to ITV. A few months back I was contacted by the Prostate Cancer Campaign to be asked whether I would join my first cousin, Peter Snow, and my first cousin once removed, Dan Snow, to front an awareness-raising campaign.

Although there is no history of it our family, there is thought to be a genetic link in the manifestation of the disease. But I must admit, I was also motivated by realising that in our adult lives, Peter, Dan, and I have never been photographed together.

For the campaign photo-shoot, we pitched up at a studio where Marks & Sparks, (who are backing the campaign) had laid on some clothes for us to be shot in. As each of us is in excess of 6ft 4, this was no mean challenge for M&S.

I also broke my golden rule of never being photographed in underpants and certainly never in a “high street” tie. So these days you can go into the men’s department at M&S and find these improbable mannequins adorned in the best of what we used to call St Michael’s. Not sure whether we still do…

So this morning were together on TV for the first time ever on This Morning. An odd event to be sure – they seemed to want us to hang around down there for an age.

I suspect it provided a greater insight into the ageing process than into prostate cancer.
