New BBC sub-genre delivery structures…
Further to the Carol Thatcher, Jonathan Ross, Russell Brand, Jeremy Clarkson controversies at the BBC, I think I may be on to something.
I’m pretty certain that each has collided with the new “sub-genre, multi-platform delivery structures” being put in place at the BBC.
I’m not going to embarrass the fine individual who penned the email below, hailing as he does from the upper sub-genre echelons at the BBC. But I suspect we may be somewhere near cracking Aunty’s problem.
Dear All
I’m writing to tell you about some structural changes I’m making in the Knowledge Commissioning team in BBC Vision. These changes are the result of the imperative to engineer a major shift of commitment towards the devising and delivery of the integrated subgenre strategies essential to the next stage of the Knowledge strategy on all platforms…
To achieve this it’s vital that we have a joined up supply system – with in-house and indie commissioning reintegrated under a series of new, focused subgenre slates…
Please see attached an organisational chart clearly showing how the new Knowledge Commissioning structure looks.
I’m confident that this structure will allow us to deliver focused sub-genre strategies with clear editorial leadership…
I will make a further announcement on the Knowledge Multiplatform Commissioning structure shortly.
Although I have taken some lines out purely for brevity’s sake, every word of this is genuine.
