Running out of time to tackle climate change
On Monday, the United Nations will launch its toughest – and potentially most alarming – report yet on climate change. Ahead of it, the Secretary General Ban ki Moon has travelled to Greenland to underline the gathering pace of the crisis.
I travelled with him to the town of Oommannaq – well inside the Arctic Circle – where the ice is melting to reveal water and solid rock.
Also in the party, the Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt, who told me “the good news is that we can still try to combat [climate change]. The bad news is that if we don’t do it soon, it will be too late”.
