Obama: the world is not doing enough on Ebola

Health officials in Texas say they’re preparing for more Ebola cases – after a second nurse tested positive for the disease.

Amber Vinson – who’d also treated the Liberian man, Thomas Eric Duncan, who died last week – had been on a flight the day before reporting symptoms, raising serious questions over medical protocol.

Anonymous statements attributed to nurses at the hospital allege that protocols, protective clothing and preparedness at the hospital were inadequate. Administrators at Texas Presbyterian Hospital say the welfare of its workers are its highest priority.

President Obama has cancelled his day’s travel – instead attending an unscheduled cabinet meeting to discuss the ebola crisis. Earlier, he’d held a video conference of European leaders designed to galvanise the global response in West Africa – where 4,500 people have now died.
