Call for cap on university medicine places to be lifted

Thousands of A-level students in England who have already been through the agony of having their results downgraded, only for them to be reinstated, face a year or more in limbo after losing their places at university. And those wishing to study medicine, the vital doctors of the future, might be particularly disadvantaged.

Although the cap on overall student numbers has been raised, places at medical schools remain limited because the cost of training doctors is so high.
