Calls for Boris Johnson to apologise over Jo Cox Brexit comments

Shocked MPs have spent today conducting a  post-mortem on how last night’s Commons debate descended into such bitterness and anger.

Many MPs, including some Conservatives, have blamed Boris Johnson for using divisive language.

There was fury when he said the concerns of female MPs about their safety was “humbug”.

This evening the Prime Minister has said he deplores threats to female MPs, But he insisted that he should be able to describe the law that will force him to ask for an extension to Brexit  if he can’t get a deal as the “Surrender Act”.
