Campaigners call for end to sexually abusive parents retaining parental responsibility over their child

Presenter

When a parent – with parental responsibility – is convicted of sexually abusing their own child, you might assume they lose all rights over that child. But that’s not the case. They continue to have a say on how that child is brought up, including where they go to school and medical treatment – even direct contact – compounding and prolonging the trauma suffered by the child. The Victim’s Commissioner for London is calling for the law to be changed.
