She’s spent four years battling lacklustre approval ratings and even some ridicule. But Kamala Harris will almost certainly become the Democrats’ nominee to take on Donald Trump in November.

As she pledged to earn the title, leading Democrats have rushed to lend their support – from state Governors to influential donors.

But is that enough to overcome the perception that she’s there because of President Biden’s weakness, rather than on her own strength?
