Canada wildfires: Thousands flee city in ‘apocalyptic’ scenes

They’ve got until Friday at noon to leave town – 20 000 people considered at the highest risk from the approaching wildfires have begun leaving the Canadian city of Yellowknife in long convoys of traffic – as officials warned flames could reach its outskirts by the weekend.

Fires have already burned through more than eight thousand square miles in northern Canada . While on the other side of the world, thousands of people are also being evacuated from fires in Tenerife.
