Chancellor blames previous Tory government as economy flatlines for second month

New figures show the economy flatlined in July, recording no growth at all for the second month in a row.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves blamed the poor performance on her Conservative predecessors and she vowed to stay the course, with more tough decisions in the next budget after winning the backing of most Labour MPs yesterday for means testing winter fuel payments.
