Chancellor under pressure over cash for ‘bad-tempered breakdown’ in Brexit talks

The Chancellor was at the centre of a row today over whether he’s willing to spend the money some say is needed in the event of a “bad-tempered breakdown” in Brexit negotiations. The Prime Minister said an extra £250 million had been allocated to preparations for the UK’s departure from the EU. But Philip Hammond said that funding for a no-deal plan wouldn’t happen “until the very last moment”.
