4mChina warns Hong Kong protesters punishment ‘only a matter of time’
China has issued a strong rebuke to Hong Kong’s pro-democracy protesters following a ninth consecutive weekend of increasingly violent demonstrations and a general strike which paralysed the city yesterday.
The Hong Kong Affairs Office of China’s State Council vowed that their punishment was “only a matter of time.” Joshua Wong, leader of the 2014 umbrella protest movement, said Beijing was attempting to scare Hong Kongers into silence.
