It’s been nearly six weeks since the Makin review was published into the barbaric activities of John Smyth, the most prolific abuser associated with the Church of England, now deceased.
In the days afterwards, Justin Welby became the first Archbishop of Canterbury in history to be forced from office, after he admitted he hadn’t done enough to stop Smyth’s abuse.
Now we can reveal that a total of 10 other clergymen and women criticised by Sir Keith Makin have stepped back from ministry. But survivors say wholesale reform is needed to ensure serving Bishops are held to account.
