Civilians fired at while fleeing Nova Kakhovka dam floods in Ukraine

Emergency services in Kherson have come under Russian shelfire, as they rescue civilians who are trying to escape from the Kherson region.

It flooded when the Nova Kakhovka dam collapsed after an explosion believed to have been carried out by Russian forces.

During a visit to the region, Ukraine’s president Zelenskyy said international aid agencies should do more to help people who need food, medicine and clean water.

And with the long touted offensive now seemingly underway there have also been reports that Ukrainian forces are attacking Russian military positions in Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia.
