Concerns raised over £600 million government pledge to care homes

North of England Correspondent

Concerns have been raised as to whether the government’s announcement of £600 million for care homes to help prevent the spread of Covid-19 can actually be used.

A charity representing adult social care providers has written to the government to say that the system is “confused and overly bureaucratic” and there’s a risk it’ll leave “large amounts of the money going unspent”.

The government says it has been clear how the money can be used.
