Lee Anderson, who said that Islamists were controlling the London mayor and the capital city, has been suspended by Rishi Sunak. Sadiq Khan described the comments as islamophobic and racist.
Lee Anderson was disagreeing with former Home Secretary Suella Braverman when he made the comments that got him suspended from the Conservatives.
Asked about her claim that Islamists are in charge of Britain, he told GB News he believes it’s Sadiq Khan and London they control. After refusing to apologise, he said he accepts the party had no option but to suspend the whip.
But it reduces the Tory majority further, to 46 – down from 80 at the last election.
