Coronation Street star Julie Hesmondhalgh says art and activism ‘always matter’

The actor Julie Hesmondhalgh says now is the time to try and live your best life: she’s just brought out a new book, full of advice for anyone wanting to take up the acting profession –  and at a time when culture is under attack around the world – creativity has never been more necessary.

She is best known of course for her 16 years as Hayley Cropper on the long running ITV drama Coronation Street.
