Coronavirus: Johnson announces changes to sick pay

The government will be changing the rules to allow sick pay to be claimed from the first day workers fall ill.
With the virus expected to spread more quickly in the weeks to come there are serious concerns about the possibility that low paid workers will feel obliged to come to work while infected, because they can’t afford not to be paid.
Today Boris Johnson announced that the government will be changing the rules to allow sick pay to be claimed from the first day workers fall ill, rather than on the fourth day as at present.
